Missionary Messages from a Call to Brazil is at once the memoirs of a passionate believer in Jesus the Messiah and an extremely insightful example of the isolation, hopes and trials of missionaries abroad. Florence Stacy, a nurse and ordained minister, paints a picture of the hearts of the Brazilians she met and ministered to in her 14 years of outreach as she struggled to hang on without ever achieving a residential status, never gaining a job, while experiencing and testifying to so many opportunities to share the Gospel message in a people hungry for the written word. The great proportion of her income was spent printing simple brochures on a variety of biblical answers to questions she perceived among the general population, such as "Can You Know," which addressed the certainty of salvation that Scripture offers. Highly recommended for congregations that support missionaries, for anyone planning on missions abroad, or for Missions boards contemplating the needs of those they support in the field. Florence felt a call late in life, and made a U-turn to answer that call despite many obstacles. Her persistant love and surprising honesty will inspire all who read her book.

Documents the missionary letters of Florence C. Stacy in her own words, written variably from Brazil or while waiting to re-enter her mission field there. The reader will gain insight into the struggles she faced as well as the many love-filled encounters of mercy in which she was able to minister, both as a believer and as a nurse, often in the favillas, the desolate, uncivilized areas where 30 percent of Brazil's population subsists without basic services. She also details her volunteer survice at hospitals open to the poorest of the poor. Since Florence's days in this large, beautiful, flourishing country, Bible-based faith has tripled in a country that has been hampered by a form of Catholic expression tacitly tied to demon worship and failed liberation theologies. Florence Stacy was genuine, compassionate, perceptive, and effectiveness in helping connect the poor in spirit to the God of the universe, although in her own estimation, she failed in her attempts to do what she saw needed to be done and could be done, with sufficient support.
